rims/tire swap at dealership...???
I have been waiting on my rubicon for over 6 months now... good news is, its supposed to be delivered on valentines day!!!
Here is my question.
I want the dealer to replace the stock rubicon rims/tires with ones that i have picked out....before i take the vehicle off the lot.
what would a fair deal be?
i priced five rubicon rim/tires ... $590 for each set from a local dealer ($2950 total for five)
the tire/wheel combo that i want costs... $450 for each set ($2250 plus shipping)
what would a fair deal be for the exchange
if i'm sposed to pay 34,000 for the rubicon off the lot... stock... what should my new price be?
has anyone done anything like this?
34,000? higher? lower? just wanted to get some honest opinions.

I doubt the dealer will give you a credit on the wheels and tires.
I'm sure they'll gladly take them off your hands, but they probably wont cut you a deal.
Also, check to make sure your dealer is okay with you swapping the rims and tires for you. They may say no.

If you were to keep the rubi rims/tires, you could probably get $1K for them by selling them yourself. I would tell the dealer your plans, ask them to install the new tires rim, take $1K off of your purchase price and tell them to keep them. They would then probably put them on another JK and jack up the price for the upgrade. It would be a win/win for both of you.
Yeah, I offered my BFG MT's (had 34 miles on 4, none on the spare) in exchange for a discount on a rear bumper/tire carrier from the dealer, and they said "they couldn't use them", so I sold them myself and didn't order a rear bumper/tire carrier from them.
Don't expect much from the dealer. They are in the business of selling cars, not tires and wheels. For them it could be a long wait for a customer looking for exactly what you don't want. In the mean time they have to pay you and then find a place to keep them. Your best bet is to propose what pulmano1 suggested and see what they say.
You can also ask the tire store what they would give you for the "old" ones since they have a steadier stream of wheel/tire customers and would be more likely to be able to sell them.

I was in America's Tires yesterday and asked them how much they would give for the stock tires off of a Jeep. They said $25.00 per tire. I guess if you dont want to bother with selling the stock tires/wheels, that is the easiest way to go, but you should have no trouble selling Rubicon rims/tires.
One thing you can count on for sure is that a dealership will try to rip you off. They don't understand how to operate any other way. Anything they offer you for the rubicon stock tires will be a lot less than you could probably get for them on e-bay. Some dude who just bought an X with base tires and rims would probably be happy to give you a grand for them as opposed to spending 12 to 15 hundred for aftermarket.
