Default Roll Bar Padding warranty covered

I don't know if anyone yet has got their padding covered under warranty yet for fading, but I am! It is B.S. how it fades so quick. The padding on the front bar that connects to the windshield isn't bad, it's the rest of it. It is all purple on top. I am going on tomorrow to get my new drivers side seat cover put on and the new soft top they warrantied put on and I am going to see what they will do for me. I got a cool service advisor I deal with and if they shoot me down I will go to the other dealer 5 miles away. I mean they know th top will be down, Its a convertible for Pete Sake! Even in the brochures it shows it with the top down so it should resist against fading. We will see. Anyone got theirs covered? To be continued..........

Really? So you are just going to keep going back every year to get new rollbar padding?

Some people actually tricked their dealers into thinking the same, but I would hope most dealers turn you down in all honesty. If dealerships warranty fabric after a years worth of sun, then why shouldn't they give you all new seats too. All the petty shit is going to cost them money and they will end up not covering some of the major mechanical issues that should be covered for warranty.

Maybe I'm thinking too much into it. Not trying to argue, just opening discussion. There was a thread about a week ago in the Stock and Talk forum with the same issue. Few had it replaced under warranty.

Even if you get new ones, they are just going to keep on fading if you don't take care of them. So if you do, please go buy the 303 fabric cleaner and fabric protectant. I used it on my padding after they were almost pink, and both those products turn it back to black. Looks newer than stock.

Take the time to remove the padding and wash it in the washing machine occasionally if they get covered in mud, dirt, etc. Hope this helps ya.

I don't think I'm grasping at straws when I say I'm pretty sure not every dealer is going to go ahead with such 'warranty claims'
I personally don't believe that such fading should be warrantied by the dealerships as I believe there is a level of personal responsibility to providing reasonable care for your own vehicle....ie, put the top up once in awhile, park in shaded areas, in garages etc etc....
I just figure you should consider yourself lucky your able to drive around with the top down long enough to have fading like this occur.
But I think all should consider this, is there not a reasonable enough expectation from everyone that the sun is known to fade EVERYTHING and ANYTHING ?

....but in the end....just my

and again in here I see that you took your Jeep in to the dealership to have your windows replaced because YOU used a window cleaner on them then by your own statement LIED to the dealer stating you use only soap and water and wound up with a new top?? Dude, I hope they bust you for this stuff. It says clearly in the manual only regular soap and water to clean soft top and softop windows.
Your not taking responsibility for your own actions....

Why would you get the padding replaced. You mention "it is a convertible for Pete Sake" hate to say it but you paid $30,000 so you could enjoy things like a little fading. The faded fabric should be a trophy showing that yes you are a proud Jeep owner and you have had your top off, unlike many of the yuppies that I see on the road who don't even know they can take the top off their vehicle. This is like any scar you get while wheeling, although not as cool it is now part of the vehicle and it is part of the story of you and your Jeep. If you don't like it then go buy some dye and make them black again yourself (god forbid anybody put their own work into things these days, or accept consequences for what they choose to do (YOU DID CHOOSE TO TAKE THE TOP OFF)), instead of going to the dealership and making them fix your problems. The more volume of these "not real" problems that the dealership has to deal with the less likely they are to help out when you have a real problem. I know that if I had to go into the dealer for a real breakdown and I got stuck in line behind you just wasting their time so you could get new sport bar pads I would wait for you and beat you down with a wrench out of my breakdown bag. If you don't like the reality that you should be more open to such "flaws" as a jeep owner then I suggest you sell your Jeep and buy yourself something that would fit you better like a Prius.

If I got vinyl siding for my house from Sears which has a lifetime warranty and I called Sears 10 years later and told them to replace it all because the sun faded it what kind of fag would I be?

If you don't like the sun join a cult or something, don't bitch because it faded you pads.

I'm not going to jump on the bashing bandwagon, but as I said in the other thread, you gotta pic your battles, especially with the whole warrenty gimmick. I'd rather have nothing on my warrenty record when my auto trans catchs on fire then have came in a couple time for minor things such as faded fabrics, slightly leaky soft top etc.

You just got to be careful, if it isn't hindering your ability to use the Jeep, don't worry about it. Like others said, just go buy some 303 and you'll be set
