Default Rotational Squeak

Where do I start...

I’ve had my Jeep since April/May 2018

My Jeep squeaked a little bit I thought... it’s a Jeep, I’m a new owner... owned a 4Runner before... it’s rough and a little squeaky...

Squeak got worse over time. Always front right side. Always rotational. I’ve had the breaks checked by 2 shops and the dealership I purchased the Jeep from. Dealership told me my rotors were warped and break pads needed replacing but then I had them checked again by 2 other places and both places confirmed the rotors and breaks were fine.

However, one of the shops found that I had a missing nut on the back of a sway bar link so they replaced that. And it still squeaks. During that same inspection they found one of my shocks was leaky... had the shocks replaced yesterday. Still squeaky.

I took a video of what it sounds like while I’m driving because it seems to still be a mystery. However, I’m having trouble attaching it... 😞

Can anyone listen to the sound sound and tell me where they think it’s coming from. It happens on a dry hot day when I’m just driving. And it always happens when I break lightly but then stops as I break harder and come to a stop.

I’m stumped and frustrated.

Upload the video to YouTube and post a link .....

That last sentence sure makes it sound brake related. There's not a whole lot on a practically new jeep in that passenger front that could be "squeaking" off the top of my head, besides brakes.

Edit - sorry, I see you have a '13. I misread that it was a 2018.

Sure sounds like a brake wear indicator

Why couldn’t any mechanic just tell me this? I have had 3 shops including the dealership look at it. I have a hard time trusting the dealership... so when I went there first (since I needed an oil change) I had them do the $110 inspection. Said “your rotors are warped and you need new break pads” I had, no joke, purchased the vehicle from them less than a year ago at this point... why would they sell me a vehicle that needs new rotors and break pads? Also, I had 2 other shops look at the breaks and tell me everything looks fine and in fact the breaks look new... 🤯

If it has new brakes, it is possible that one pad may be loose, or wear indicator bent. JMHO.

So what’s the next step? Do I have that break pad replaced? Breaks inspected again? I got 3 opinions. 2 out of 3 said breaks were fine. I feel like I’m getting the run around. The squeak is bothering me and even if I’m driving slow through an area like a parking lot or something it squeaks if I’m not putting on the breaks at all. And it’s rotational...

squeak... squeak... squeak...

never ever a squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal

I just dont know where to go. What to say. What to replace?

In regards to the dealer selling something....I think as long as pads aren't at some dangerous level, dealers are taking things in, glancing at em, flipping em back out. they're not pulling things off and measuring with a caliper to verify wear compared to spec.

idk how everyone might be able to verify things are ok, but that definitely sounds brake related. Are they test driving it, or just doing visual inspections? If it were me, I'd swap things out.....but I buy cheap rotors as I deem them disposable, and pads are cheap too. Sometimes you just get a dud. I'd verify everything is greased where it should be. Maybe the slide pins need some grease?

Others might not do this, but I'd even be willing to swap pads/rotors from driver to passenger to see if anything changed.

Problem is is I’m not doing this on my own. Someone way more qualified will be working on my Jeep. So the most practical thing a mechanic will say is probably just recommend replacing the pads for starters?
