That looks like brittle metal from bad welding or crap tubes one. That falls under the material and workmanship. Jeep needs to be Independent of Crappler.

There was another axle tube break on here several months ago that looked nearly identical to yours. Do some searching and try to use it to your advantage. It does look like there was some impact, but not nearly enough to cause that. I agree that it looks like brittle steel. You can't really blame Chrysler for supplying a "crappy" part, as it is a part supplied by Dana/Spicer. Chrysler could demand a change from them though. Good luck.

Wow! No wonder you can buy a new Rubi axle from Mopar for $1400. I knew there had to be some kind of catch. It's almost worth it to buy one to have for a spare once mine is outta warranty, cause you know by that time, the price will probably be double.

Definatly was caused by an impact, probably the same one that wrecked your stabilizer, sliding backwards into the rock probably just finished it off snapping an already cracked axle.

Agree though pretty brittle, would think it would bend before it would snap, how cold was it outside when it happened?

It does look like mine. Well Outten will not cover it either. So looks like I am stuck with an out of pocket situation. What are my upgrade option? ANything with a reasonable cost?

You should PM Trail Bud. His dealer fixed it under warranty.
