Default Rubicon vs Sport shocks

Would there be that much of a difference in ride swapping shocks only?

Yes I switched and worth it. Softer ride with shocks. Especially when they can be had for cheep for a set of slightly used. I also added springs too!

Did you really get a softer ride with rubi shocks? I read on the forum that the sport shocks compress at 35 lbs and the rubi shocks around 85 lbs. Wouldn't that cause for a firmer ride? Btw my rubi shocks are currently on the way lol.

I installed Rubi Springs and Shocks. I feel I got a stiffer ride due to the springs. The shocks helped soften the ride when going over bumps. I hope I'm making sense. I belive they are also two different animals. One is mono (sport) and one is gas (Rubi).

I found that new Rubicon shocks ride better than worn out sport ones, if that helps. The sport shocks were worn out at about 35k miles.

The thing that I noticed the most is how there is almost no body rise/movement when taking off (heavy throttle).

And almost no front end dive when braking (panic/quick stops)

It seems under normal pavement driving it may be a little stiffer, small bumps have a sharper hit to them, but ruts or en-even pavement gives you a feeling of more control.

I would definitely swap Sport shocks for Rubi shocks (or any other mono-tube high pressure gas shock)

.

Correct. That's a pretty good deal. You'll love the ride afterwards. I switched from worn out 50k mile stock shocks on my Sahara for a set of Rubicon shocks, and my fiancé stopped nagging so much. I also noticed a smoother ride.

I got some for the same deal..... I put them on and did not change springs. Off road, my JK took washboard with much more control, responded to bumps like an off road vehicle should. Best part is how the on road drive-ability improved. Body lean in turns is mucch less, no dive on hard braking. All Jeeps should come with this shock! DO IT you will never get a bigger improvement for such a small price......

I found a set of rubi shocks and springs with around 100 miles on Craig lists. Total $120.00, looking forward to swapping them out on my 07.
