Seriously, has anyone taken their doors off to check the hinge pins? I am going to check mine now.

Non corrosive pins and flanged synthetic pin bushings. Can these be bought aftermarket? Haven't taken door off but I'm sure it is what others have said (the pin rusting).

Check out Quadratec- they have a pretty extensive assortment of goods for the JK, but I'm not sure if the parts are available yet for the JK. Be warned that you MAY experience some difficulty with shipping from Quadratec because you're in Canada... another poster reported having had a hard time with them, because of customs.

No I was only stating the lack thereof is the root cause of the problem and for about another $40 at D.C.s end this could have been avoided.
That's why this is something the dealer is going to have to address.
Problem next is the wording of the warranty doesn't really consider this a corrosion issue because it's not body metal itself rusting. I'll be approaching them as a paint finish issue caused by the pin and see how that flies.

Didnt someone make stainless hinges for one of the ORV shows? I am 99% positive i saw them somewhere...

Maybe the pin could be swapped out of one of those? I dunno about the bushings.

Edit: They are here: http://project-jk.com/wp-gallery2.php?g2_itemId=4301

pins dont look removable though. There doesnt appear to be bushings.

I would bet these would have the whole "dissimilar metals" corrosion issue going on.

Default hinge pin rust

the hinge pins on my 97 TJ started to bleed rust after it was about 5 years old. I am surprised your 07 is rusting this soon. Well maybe not considering all the paint and quality control complaints people have on this board.

my body shop guy said there was no way to prevent this in previous jeeps (don't know about the 07) because of the way they were designed and made. unless you used stainless steel.

His recommendation to anyone with a jeep is to give the hinges a shot of wd40 every 3 or 4 weeks and wipe up the excess to prevent unsightly marks on the body.

Or you could leave the WD40 drip marks on the paint under the hinges so that the mud won't stick

I showed my rusty hinges to the dealer and they said that it was caused by the lift and bigger tires!
