Default Rusty Muffler

Yesterday, I was driving over 50 miles on the freeways.
On my way I saw many Wranglers JK.
Almost every one of them got rusty muffler under nice and shining body...
Is this very common "thing"? Or maybe I saw something else... Maybe it was brownish paint
Just asking, for sure rusty muffler not gonna change my decision about buying my JK But if this a common thing why not painted the muffler with heat-rust proof paint for garden grills...

I was almost 99% sure this is rust on those mufflers.

All of them rust, just cheep parts, if you notice the drivelines and spindles also rust. Spray some rust prevent paint on them and replace muffler with stainless steel high tuck muffler.

Nope, not the muffler.... other things I will protect.... will just wait for it to rust out and then buy a SS muffler.

Yeah sometimes it's just from the heat... I got a new flowmaster exhaust and it went from a silver-ish color to an almost white-ish tone now just from the heat.

almost 1.5 years old, zero rust anywhere. Including on the muffler. Thats 15k miles, and a full snowy winter. Although we do not use salt here. We are smart and use sand
