Default Is SAS "recalibration" reqired after alignment?

Hey all. Got a question for the more knowledgable JK owners here. Long story short I put a new set of BFG's on my Wrangler Sport a few months ago and started to notice some uneven tire wear. I work at a small shop so late last saturday I put it up on the rack and found the toe in was too negitive. So I adjusted toe back to spec. and re centered the steering wheel with the drag link by eye. Been driving for a few days now and while the steering wheel isn't exactly where it was before it's pretty close to 12 o'clock when driving straight on a flat road.

Now yesterday I was chatting with a service writer that works for the local dodge dealer and my alignment came up. He told me that I shouldn't have messed with my own alignment because I have a very sensitive steering angle sensor in the column and after any steering adjustment it is critical that I have the "sas" recalibrated to dead center or I will have problems with my traction control. He then proceeded to tell me that they could "get me right in".

Now I've been driving for a few days now with no lights coming on or any issues with my traction control but what he said has been bugging me.

I was just wondering if anyone here could tell me if what he said about needing a "recalibration" is true or was he just trying to get me to bring my Jeep in for a service I don't need.

I would say that if your not having any problems than leave it alone. The sensor is part of the clock spring in the steering column and they cause all kinds of problems on JK's. The sensor is supposed to be re calibrated if a new clock spring is put in or taken out for any reason. It is also recommended to re calibrate the sensor if the battery gets disconnected. The angle is very sensitive and can cause many problems. However, if it isn't throwing codes or causing you any problems I would leave it alone.
