Hopefully it wasn't a fellow Jeeper that needed to replace a broken panel.

I've wondered about this risk.
I'm thinking something like a locking gas cap, but for the freedom top panels.
It would spin freely until the key engages the knob.
The added benefit would be not overtightening, since the gas cap has a built-in ratchet/torque mechanism.

getting in was easy enough... I haven't had the camper on in over 6 months. I usually just run with my t's if it is raining, other wise I ride open air. And I don't suspect it being another jeeper for two reasons...

1.) I like to think we are a tighter comunity than that. I have been helped to many times on the trails (and vise versa of course) to then steal from me. Maybe I am just too hopefull.

2.) I would think if it was another jeeper they would have snagged both. They are practically new since they are seldomly used and strapped in or in the garage most of the time.

right around the corner is a (with no disrespect) lower income housing section, and there is asteady flow of unsupervised children. I suspect that it was some of these that thought it would be funny since it was raining. I keep expecting to come across it tossed to the side somewhere.

Yes insurance WOULD cover it however I keep a $500 deductable to keep my insurance low and they wouldn't cover most of the damage done to my jeep (off road damage is not covered!)

Check any local flea markets on the weekend, sometimes you can be surprised by what turns up, and don't feel I'm slamming them, my late Dad had a large flea market business, and would have done nothing improper.....A black permanent marker with the last 4 digits of your VIN number written along the edge of the top seem to be in order here, for easy I.D. and possible theft deterrance.

In the replacement OEM parts business the parts that sell the most are priced up the most, even though the unit cost to manufacture a higher volume part would be less. All right and left parts on the typical vehicle are priced differently, guess why!

Nuts, I jsut saw a pair of those go on ebay last week for about 50 bucks plus shipping...

Knew I should have bid on them, you could have had one.

Of course, I would have been left with one goofy looking jk.
