Default smashed rear 1/4 panel w/pics...please help

O.K. Tonight I backed into a pole and smashed the body that is between the tail gate, which seems to be fine, and the right rear 1/4 panel, which is dented in, but looks like it will push out easily. The rt tail light is ruined and the tail gate works just fine. It's just the body at the right corner of the jeep that is compromised. Right where the corner is, the paint is split and cracked. How much do you think this is going to cost? Can I just cover it up with a corner armor panel and if so what about rust? Should I take it to the stealership or a body shop? Any comment or opinion is welcome...thanks in advance. Pics when the sun comes up. btw the bumper is creased as well but I don't care about that as I would like to replace it eventually.

Post pics as soon as you can, but the route to go all depends on what you want to do. Body shop obviously is the best way to go, but probably the most expensive. armour will probably work (hard to tell until we see pics), but I'd sand, prime & paint the area that's missing paint to help prevent rust before putting the armour on.

just pop it out and spray some touch up paint then get some corner gaurds ..

the corner guards will restore the bodies integraty and will be just like new only stronger and the paint will prevent rust

It's extremely easy to install. You can get the stock ones at jeepsareus.com or many man other places. Now is the time to go with recessed LEDs though.

Hey, i just had mine done a month or so ago. In my situation someone ran into the jeep while it was parked near a place i was eating lunch.

I had to replace rear liscence plate holder (rear light was still fine), and had to have the dent pulled out and repainted.

I did all the removal of plastic pieces including the rear fender flare, bumper, light, and gas tank filler hole.

To have them pop out the damage and re-paint the panal cost me around $400 at the dealer. They quoted me at around $1000 to do all the removal and instalation of plastic parts.

aside from the rear light, my damage was pretty close to the same as yours to the 1/4 panel....except the oposite side.

Ks

doubt it. then i would've just had to replace that too...$$$$$

also, i found the corner panel and the taillight assembly for 90$ including next day delivery. seem reasonable i just don't know if i can install the panel and how pissed the dealer will be if i take them the parts. I guess they'd rather make something rather than nothing off the deal. will keep you posted. thanks for the replies
