Soft Top 2nd Bow Problem
Ok, I noticed this the other day washing the Jeep. I've had it about 2 weeks now, and haven't taken the top down until yesterday trying to fix this problem.
The second bow of the soft top doesnt stay 'snapped' in on the passengerside. There is a little "Y" shaped end to the bow that is supposed to keep it down on the other frame work, but it wont stay down. It's already stretched the top pretty well in that spot, and it looks like it would leak from the outside to me.
The bar not staying down over passenger side door:

From the outside:

Anyone have any ideas why it would do that? When I propped the top up yesterday I couldn't see anything blocking anything or misaligned.
Thanks!

Did you compare it to the other side. I had a soft top, but not now, so I can't go look at mine. That definitely isn't right. Obviously you know that should be sitting flush, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't. I have never seen that before, and I have had 2 Jeeps now with soft tops (TJ and a JK).
I would take it in and have the service dept look at it for sure.

that plastic socket that is "above" the rod that it is supposed to be cradling, is an indication that the opposite plastic socket on the other side of the Jeep is probably the same or below the rod. once they are both where they need to be, they shouldn't let go again.
No, the one on the driver's side of the 2nd bow is in the proper position, but the passenger side refuses to stay down, it keeps immediately popping up as pictured.
I'm gonna have to take it in to the stealership I guess. Maybe I can get them to buy me a Trektop as a replacement!

This happened to me the first time I put the soft top back up as well. I unclipped the top from the door surrounds and shifted the bow towards the passenger side a little. (must not have been centered side to side) It sat right down where it was supposed to afterwards. It still happend every once in a while, but is easy to get straight.
mine did that too. EIther the soft top was shifted slightly to one side, or the rear bows were putting a slight twist in the roof. The result was not enough friction for the Y adapter thingy to hold on the pass side.
Try this:
- undo the sails at the rear
- fold back the sunrider part of the softop
- get inside the jeep and unclip the softtop from the rails
- from inside the jeep, slid the roof back on the rails a bit, and then one side at a time, pull forward to stretch the roof around the rear bows.
- go to back of jeep and gently push up on the bow to make sure it sitting right.
- when reconnecting everything, latch the front on the side that is having trouble first, then the other side.
after i did this, the soft-top sat down in the rails way better, and the Y connector held properly on the pass. side. I did not take the top down for several days after playing around with it, and now it seats properly every time.

mine did this all last summer but on the drivers side I just stuck a rag there to keep it from rubbing though the top. I hoped that it would staighten out when I reinstall it this year but no go will have them look at it when it is in for oil loss this week, found oil dripping off of my #6 spark plug when I went to change it.

So after mine was fixed from the rivets coming out, it occasionally did this. The two main reasons are that the webbing is twisted/routed wrong, or it is getting caught. It just takes some playing with.
i have had that happen a few times... usually after i had my top open (in the "sunrider" position) and neglected to re-attach the roof to the door surrounds. to solve it, i just hit the roof from the outside and knock it back into place. then reattach the roof to the door surrounds.
