Default Soft Top Arms Full of Water

I had the top down the other day and had to pull the back seat. To get the seat out i lifted the hole top aseembly up over the jeep. Much to my surprise the bars that go to the rear of the top started leaking rustey water by the mounting point. I have noticed that the top seams a bit heavier lately...

Has any one else had this happen. I am also wondering if i should drill a small hole in the low point to allow any water that gets in there to drain.

Are you talking about the top arms that click into the plastic rails?

That is odd. I haven't noticed that on mine. How were you able to get the water to come out? Can you see where the water is coming in? If it bothers you I would take it back to the dealer..

I flipped the entire soft top towards the front of the jeep so it was out of the way and i could get the back seat out. I noticed some coffee like liquid running down the pillars on both sides and a pubble on the ground. and then i saw it was coming from the arms. I would bring it to the dealer but i got the soft top off craigslist so i don't know how helpful they will be

I've experienced this. It wasn't a great deal of water but I've had water drip out from that location. Really surprised me because when it happened, we hadn't seen a drop of rain for weeks and it had been a week since I had washed the Jeep.

yeah it hadn't rained for a while so i really though i somehow spilt coffee. did you do anything to deal with it our just leave it. the water was pretty rustey, and so i'd rather not having it run down the pillar ruining the padding.

Yeah, those bits are called "bows" and that water is "bow ballast" that Jeep installs during assembly. Impoves the thermal mass of the soft-top. It's all good
