Default Soft top door surround knobs are $20 each?

I have a stock hard top. I bought the Bestop safari top combo that came with the duster, extention and windjammer about two years ago. This was before I knew to come here and really do my homework. Anyway... come to find out the safari top doesn't really look good when you have the doors on because I didn't have the surrounds. The duster didn't seal at the rear because I didn't have the rear bar either.

Flash forward a year and my inlaws ask me what I wanted for Christmas. My wife says door surrounds and rear tailgate bar from Quadratec because she really knew how much that bothered me. Nearly $400 bucks not including shipping for these bad boys. For essentially 4 big hunks of plastic.

I finally get the weather to cooperate and open up the boxes to install the surrounds and they didn't come with any hardware. You have to buy the knobs seperately. So I go back online to Quadratec and find them for $20 bucks each. My guess is that I need 4 of them. Another $80 bucks, just for knobs!!!

No way. There's got to be an alternative. I'll have to try a nut and bolt store because both my local Lowes and Home Depot didn't have anything that long.

Any suggestions?

Went to Ace. Picked up four 4 inch posts and some nuts and wing nuts, screwed them in this morning and it moved the surrounds into the proper position... all for $10 bucks!!! Screw $80 for the Mopar ones!!!

I wanted some knobs instead of wing nuts... but they didn't have any... however since I'm only putting the safari top on once or twice a year, it's not bad.

Thanks for your help!!!

Good.......the Mopar knobs suck anyway. The first time I tried to remove the surrounds on mine, two of the four knobs stripped out and I had to remove the shafts with a pair of vise grips. This was the VERY first time they had ever been touched. I ended up filling the knobs with some epoxy, heating the shafts with a torch and reassembling them. I have since had to do the same with the other two as well. They stripped out when removing them on a hot day. After the heat and epoxy, they are holding together fine. They are a stupid design and I think you made the right choice of hitting up the hardware store instead

Are you guys referring to the knobs that you use to connect the plastic window/door frames when putitng the soft top on?

If so, there are two types of knobs.... one is longer (maybe 2"?) and the other is shorter (about an inch). I currently only have 2 long and 1 short, so I believe I am missing just one of the short ones. Can anyone confirm? I currently have my hard top on and will be putting the soft top on in a few weeks. If I am just missing the short knob, can someone let me know the part number and where I can get one cheap?

Thanks!
