Soft top help
Yeah, the cable actually keeps the sides pretty tight - I haven't had any issues with rain or wind.
One thing to make sure - the front edge of the rear windows (it's an L shape plastic bead sewn into the window) - it wraps around the door surround, and DOES clip itself into the channel in the surround. You need to turn that L into a U or J depending on what font you're using.
It's really tight the first time, but makes complete sense once you do it right. (get your mind out of the gutter)

Just want to update. I just took the top down and while I do have a cable that holds the top very tight I still don't think it's a Sunrider. I saw a video on youtube where the guy undoes the latches and just picks the front of the top off the jeep and it folds. Mine would not fold. Now that it's down I'm going to go for a ride but I am going to post pictures of the frame. Maybe from seeing it someone will know if it is or isn't. Thanks again for all of the useful information
I thought all Islanders came with a soft top, hence the Islander. You don't see many hard tops in the Islands. Also, if you were going to buy a soft top, why not a Sunrider? It's so much better being able to put the front part back like a huge sunroof.
OK folks I have a question about my soft top. I just bough one from craigslist last week. My jeep came with the hard top. Turns out the header is warpped, just as the TSB that is floating around says. Is it just the header I need to change out? Can I go with the best top no drill one?
Last night at a friends house I noticed just how poorly the dealer installed this top. The bar with the foam padding on the drivers side sits outside the jeep. Obviously I pushed it in when lowering as not to scratch the paint. Also I don't know if this is normal but the spring that's attached to the cable keeps coming off the bracket on the passenger side only. Needless to say I'll be heading back to the dealer today after work. One good thing is I must say the dealer has been great.
For everyone that helped I figured you might want to be updated. Turns out I'm not completely retarded. The top was installed with bent support bars. Ishould be getting a replacement next week. I'll let everyone know how it works out. PS it isn't a sunrider but does have the new cable system. Thanks for all the help
