Thanks for the help but that video covered a sunrider top which I don't have. I have a mopar item number 82209746ab I was able to take the top down but it was not easy. As far as putting it back up I am kind of stuck. It is brand new. Is that why it is so damn hard to zip the windows?

Hi

I have never heard of a 2010 Jeep that did not come with the Mopar Sunrider Soft Top if it came with a soft top.

If you are referring to the newer soft top that has the cable vs. the drip tabs, it is also a Sunrider Soft Top.

Either way if that's what you talking about here is a decent youtube video on the new 2010 version of the top.

Hope this helps

It didn't come with a softtop it came with a Freedom top. When buying the jeep I made a deal with the stealership and they were going to add the softtop. It was back ordered and it finally came in and has been installed. I was told it is not a sunrider top. As far as the steps for removal and installation is it the same regardless? Also is it supposed to be almost impossible to clamp on the header latches? I am having the hardest time getting them on

Should be almost exactly the same procedure. As for the latches, yes - they'll be really tight the first time - do it in warm weather so the fabric stretches more easily.

After the first time, it's a breeze. It took me about an hour the first time I put the soft-top on, on my 2010 JKU... by the third time I was down to 10 minutes.

It gets easier 1) when you know what you're doing, and 2) the top stretches a bit.

I'm led to believe that when down, the fabric will tighten up again in a couple days.

Are you clamping the latches first? I need to or i cannot get them clasped.

My steps (non sunrider top)
  • Put the top up, fully clamp latches.
  • Put plastic track in grove on door surrounds at top of door openings, both sides.
  • Pull down slightly on the top rearmost bow and install both rear sail panels above the tail lights.
  • Put in rear window (pull downward on top bow as necesarry to give enough slack to zip properly)
  • Zipper top edge of a side window. Install plastic track in grove at rear of door opening. Install lower plastic track into body grove on tub) Zip the rest of the window. (repeat this for other side window)
That order works for me, and yes, putting the top back up after a few days or when it is cold is harder to do. It does seem to contract and definetly gets stiffer when cold.

Yeah the latches were almost impossible to close. I could feel it scratching the paint on that loop up front but the you tube video help and I think that's what I am going to do next time. Attach the clasp but not close it completely. By the way I do have some sort of cable. Would this eliminate that plastic sunrider sleeve that they talk about? Wouldn't it be great if the dealer where you spend 20-30+ thousand dollars could answer these questions? Thank you to all my fellow jeepers for all of your help

You have a 2010 softop so it has a cable that runs along the top of the door surrounds to make putting it up and down easier. It also means you don't have to tuck the top into the door surrounds which can be a pain.

If you're putting the top up when its below 70 degrees, partially clamp the latches and run the heater on high for a few minutes before you fully latch them. This will help warm the top and let it stretch.

Yeah, the cable actually keeps the sides pretty tight - I haven't had any issues with rain or wind.

One thing to make sure - the front edge of the rear windows (it's an L shape plastic bead sewn into the window) - it wraps around the door surround, and DOES clip itself into the channel in the surround. You need to turn that L into a U or J depending on what font you're using.

It's really tight the first time, but makes complete sense once you do it right. (get your mind out of the gutter)
