Default Softtop Leak Fixes? Anyone? Anyone?

I have purchased some silicone and will remove after the winter is over. how do I convince the dealer to replace the plastic header for free? I bought the 07 JK brand new, with only the soft top, it has been through two winters (Ohio) and I am on my first one here (Conn.) this is the first year I have had serious leakage problems and I have tried making my own gasket/weatherstipping for the windshield header.
Is there a moldable rubber/silicone/foamy substance that I can use to improve on the original design? I have searched about every store I can think of to create my own...there is some serious process improvement needed on the JK and I feel if I can make a gasket that doesnt increase windnoise and removes the leaks then I will document and post for all having the issue to benefit from for nothing more than their cost of materials...that is what its about, Jeepers helping Jeepers right?
will post pics of the silicone job soon so you all have a point of reference.
any suggestions? tips? tricks?

Nah don't go to the dealer.
Buy the metal header, ( i bought mine off morris 4x4 for about $119 ) it also comes with all the screws and latch assembly.
Any way I used to have this problem as well, not being flush and alot of wind noise. The plastic one from the factory was warped and bent.
Took me about an 1 hour to install, now it sits flush and really tight
Any way Ill take some pics if you want, I dont have any before pics. Also gimme a sec to get the part #.

Here is the part number that I ordered: 68049276AB-M

It is made out of metal not plastic like the factory one.

Does this seem about right or should I still go to the dealer tomorrow?
My Jeep is 07 and I got a 2010 soft top. It seats perfectly. There's no gap.

It's interesting that you say it closes easily. Mine takes a bit of a stretch. Did you get the whole kit? Meaning the top and the door surrounds, etc of the same year? They must match.

I have the same gap/leak/noise from the header of my 07 soft top on my 2010 jk. I bought some foam rubber "3/4 inch wide" weather stripping from a hardware store and ran it cross the front of the header. On the corners of the front of the header you'll see some foam strips about a few inches long I removed that and just ran weather stripping across. Just put it about 1/4 inch front the very front edge of the header. So far it's held up for over a year with NO leaks and it cut the wind noise in half, still got the gap but I don't notice it anymore.
Good luck
