Default Love my softop...

The Jeep I had before my current had only a hardtop, it made me miserable. So when I purchased my new Jeep, I made sure it had a softop. I have no regrets. The softops now days are so much better than in the past. The only way I would even remotely consider getting a hardtop now would be if it had the freedom top option. Go for it!

The 07 JK unlimited I bought the wife back in Nov o6, only came with the soft top, and it's been no problem. A few leaks here and there, but nothing major. Get more water inside when we open the door to get in and out, then any soft top leaks. Every summer I take the top off for her. Takes about 10 minites to get off and back on. She loves summertime topless driving. I did get a best top bikini and trail duster for those rainy summer days. We have had quite a bit of snow here in SE Pa, over the last 3 winters, and never had a problem with the soft top. Even when she ended up with about a foot of hard wet snow on the top. It comes off pretty easy and hasn't stretched the top.

the best still has to be the dual top group, thats what i have i run the hard top all winter and the soft top in the summer! if i had to pick between one or the other i would have to go with the soft top just becuase its ez to take off and put on anywhere. IMO if you have the pocket to do it go with the dual top if not go with the soft top!

I have the soft top only also, no regrets at all, yeah the back window gets dirty, but it's not a big deal. I have had no leaks at all.

Go for it

The softtop is a bit noisier on the highway. Around town it's pretty much a wash. I live just north of you in OK and I run my softtop most of the time. have done a few long trips in it. If you have folks in the rear seat, they will probably be a bit cooler than pleasant during winter months, and they will have difficulty conversing in a natural voice with front seaters. Probably biggest disadvantage of softtop is security. Think of it this way: You shouldn't lock the Jeep. Now, is there anything in there that necessitates locking it? Well, a pocket knife is a key, so don't lock it or put the hardtop back on. Yes, you can unzipper the windows to get into a softtop, but most thieves are too dumb or in too much of a hurry to do that. So, they will steal your Zune and trash your top, all in one fell swoop.

Softtop is good as long as you change the bumper fluid from time to time if not it drips into the horn oil pan. Then you got problems

If you have a little cash I'd spring for the dual top option. Nothing wrong with having both. I keep my hardtop on in the winter and soft top it the rest of the year.

soft top is great! easy to take half way down; have had no problems with the winter.

sometimes when it has rained hard h20 collects on the top edge of the roof, and when you open the driver door, you get a stream of water coming down.

but i understand that the hard top has similar issues
