Default Soft Top Rear Window - Is it a Pain-In-The-Ass by design?

Is there a trick to using the rear window on the soft top?

It seems like such a pain in the ass to remove 3" of the soft top on each side, then remove that tailgate bar and then unzip the sides to be able to access the rear through the window.

Then you have to hold that bar up in the air while you access the rear as there doesn't appear to be any way to secure that bar while you work in the back (tried tossing it onto the roof but then the fold pinches the rear plastic window and creates nasty pinch marks in the plastic).

Just curious to see if I'm missing something insanely obvious to using the rear window... (that has managed to escape me), or is it really a pain in the ass by design lol.

Note: I also just recently installed the Bestop Instatrunk, seems like a good idea but is really a HUGE pain the ass with the softtop since you can't easily put large items through the window to site behind the Instatrunk (Hockey bags, etc). Not a problem when the hardtop is installed obviously. May sell this one and get the Flexatrunk, not as secure as the Instatrunk but is handier for our needs and easier to take apart when we need the extra space for hockey bags etc.

Cheers
Tim

Not sure of the PITA by Design What I usually do is to undo the 3" on each side, unzip the sides [from both sides, so that the top is still zipped and forms a hinge], then roll up the bar and the rear window with it, and use the provided elastic straps and button it to the bar at the top. It rolls up and stays there without getting pinched or being in the way. Let me know if this helps

"use the provided elastic straps and button it to the bar at the top. It rolls up and stays there without getting pinched or being in the way."

Doh!!! Elastic straps? lol... are they in some box somewhere (I just installed the top for the first time this weekend) or are they hanging on the inside from the top)?

Thanks
Tim

EDIT: Found them stored with the Velcro straps, snapped them into the top rear and voila, that will at least hold the window open which is a major hurdle overcome. That should have really been in the manual :-)

They should have been in your glove-box or console. If not your dealer should be able to cough up an extra set.

....oh and just FYI, the elastic straps do scratch the window! So the short answer to your question: Is it a Pain-In-The-Ass by design? .....is............YUP!

i unzip mine ( when it will unzip/zip) about 6" on both sids and toss the bar on the roof. Never pinched, never had a problem.
