Default Soft Top Roof Bow Shields TSB 23-027-11

Hey Guys,

For some reason Jeep has released this soft-top bow shield kit as a service bulletin, I assume there have been a few issues with fabric wear?

Anyway, here it is... I thought I would post it up for all the guys that don't go to the dealer much or picked up a soft-top 2nd hand.

Warreny will only cover this if you had the Soft-top sales code on your VIN.

I also have the pdf with directions.

Matt

I picked up my soft top from craigslist, a brand new 2011 top with tinted windows for $700.

Warrenty won't be covering this, so I will be getting the part kit CEGAL241AA and installing myself.

The kit looks like a bunch of plastic cut-outs that are then zip-tied onto the bows.

If I am reading this right, this isn't for the sunrider soft top on the unlimited. Does that seem correct?

Glad to see this has been issued...I'd taken my jeep into the dealer a couple of months ago noticing wear spots where the third bow contacts the top and was told that it was normal and not covered under warranty. Looks like this vindicates my complaint.

The service department at my local dealership gave me very limited amount info on this. I started this thread - https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...Factory-Recall - but I had no idea what the dealer was talking about because he couldn't explain it to me.

Two weeks later they had the parts in stock and completed the work. The new pieces look exactly like the OP's attachments. Mine was not showing any wear, but I'm glad to get it stopped before it does.

Well my 3 month old JKU Rubicon is showing damage to the soft top, I can actually see light through the soft top, Looks like ill be contacting the dealership to get them to order the parts and replace my soft top.

I usually don't complain about leaks in a Jeep but this is more than a leak this is a serious design flaw, who would have though a sharp edge would cause damage to a piece of cloth..

Jeep is at the dealership, they pulled up the TSB before I mentioned it so they are going to take a look at it order the parts and contact Chrysler for warranty. Hopefully they dont just patch the soft top.

Mine went in today for the recall wear issue. Tech says they may replace the whole top. This PDF shows up under the recall link in my profile after I log into the Jeep website
