Well I'll be! I was about to post something along the lines of "that stuff is solid tar; how the hell can it hold water" but by the photo I can see that it is indeed porus inside and water could permeate it I guess if the surface layer was scratched or broken, or get underneath it along those visible channels running under the surface of the stuff.

Thanks for the heads up fellas!

Mine is cracking and coming apart in some areas so I'm going to have to grind it all down and smooth it out, spray it with some touch up and eventually take it to get line-x'd

Cool Back from the dead

I'm about to raptor line my tub. I was doing a search to see what the heat was like with the Goop removed before I took it off the front foot-wells. It appears that it is significant but not too bad. I just wanted to post that the best way to get this stuff up is useing a heat gun or torch if your in a hurry and a putty knife.

From the previous post it's obvious that water can get underneath it. With that being said, I did my cargo area first. It was a real pain in the ass. Next was my passenger side rear. It has been soaked many times as I have a leaky soft top and live in Hawaii where it rains a lot. That one came up so easy. So after that I decided to flood all my floorboards and let it soak. I used a craftsman oscillating tool with one if the supplied blades and they came off a lot easier. Some of my other friends have used an air chisel. It works decent but you risk puncturing the floor board. They were careful but still did it. So my recommendation is to flood the floor boards and let them sit for a couple days. If it is a daily driver just flood them over night and drain when you go to work. It worked for me. Hope it works for others.

The best way to remove the "goop" is to take some crushed dry ice and let it sit on the goop for a few minutes. Then take a hammer and gently tap. The goop will shatter and you can vacuum it out. It will not damage your paint or floor boards. You can find dry ice at most places that ship food items.

Does this work? I've never heard of anything like this and it sounds like a miracle fix to remove it.
