Default Spare Tire Mount

anyone know if the spare tire will mount on after a 35 in tire has been mounted on a factory 17 in wheel?

It will fit height-wise but will touch the indent of the bumper and slightly block the CHMSL. If the tire is much wider than the stocker, you may need to put a wheel spacer on.

i guess it depends on the width of the tire and if you bought after market tail gate bump stops

The "official" weight capacity of the OEM tire carrier is 50 lbs.

I weighed my factory Moab with factory BF Goodrich 32" tire and it is 69 1/2 lbs.

Think about that one for awhile......

That's crazy because my 315/70/17 Duratrac on stock 17" Moab is only 67.5lbs

It also depends on the backspacing of the wheel.

Been running my 35*12.50*17 Toyo M/T's and Raceline Renegade wheels with the spare in the stock hangar for over a year. I don't even want to weight that combo.

Did I mention I live in Alaska?
I'm a believer.

Its amazing how much of the JK accepts 35's from the factory.

I weighed mine at 72. if you wheel hard with stockers, you may have just as many problems as someone with an oversize spare

Stock rubi BFG MTs were just about 48lbs + close to 22lbs for the 17in rubi moabs...i know the duratracs are relatively light, but that size has to be at least 10lbs heavier (my 285/70r17 duratracs are about 53lbs alone)
