Same problem over here. Driving me crazy - at first it was mainly when I applied the brakes. Now it's pretty constant.

Mine squeaks over ANY little bump or road imperfection. It has gotten progressively louder -- to the point where I'm almost embarrassed by how ghetto it makes my Jeep sound. I'm installing a lift this weekend and plan to investigate further. Glad to know I'm not the only one who has this problem.

same here... lol... those shield has caused more harm than good for me. Shit is always getting stuck between it and the rotor. Anyone see any long term issues with removing them all together? Are they bolted on, molded, or welded?

Yep, mine does it as well. It's the rear left wheel and it squeaks when the breaks are applied, yet the pads look brand new.

Mine is still squeaking and I haven't had a chance to take apart the wheels, but I noticed sometimes when I put the parking brake on when I'm on a hill it squeaks.... Are the e-brake drum/pads behind that same dust shield?

the e-brake is a drum style setup that sits behind/inside your rear rotor. so yes its behind the same dust shield but there is no way any of those companent would be touching it. The shoes could be worn or dirty and causing a squeak when your e-brake is one

I'm still thinking the dust shield (or something very nearby) is the likely culprit. I will investigate in some detail this weekend.

Have you checked the wheel bearings ? does the squeeking sound increase when you turn in one specific direction ? also, if it squeeks over bumps, table bushings could be the culprit.

Well, I installed my lift (see sig) this weekend and the squeak is gone. I'm not sure what this means.

(a) The reprieve is temporary and the squeak will return.

(b) I replaced the part that was doing the squeaking.

(c) Whatever was squeaking is now at a different angle as a result of the lift, which has eliminated the interference that was causing the squeak.

I am happy it's gone, but dread its seemingly inevitable return.
