Default Squeak from both rear wheels

Hey everyone,

I have an 07 Sahara 2dr (pretty much stock) and I'm getting an annoying squeak coming from both of the rear wheels. If I just push up and down on the rear bumper I can make it squeak. I got underneath it today and had a friend do this, but I can't track down exactly where the sound is coming from! It sounds like it's coming from inside the wheel somewhere, but I can't nail down exactly where. I plan on taking the wheels off to see what I can see, but when I have the wheel off, I won't be able to replicate the problem.

So.... Does anyone have any ideas where this horrible squeak may be coming from?! What could I check??

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

How many miles do you have? It could brake wear.

About 78,000km on it... The brakes don't squeak when I apply them while driving, and I tried holding the brakes on while pushing up and down on the bumper, it still made the same squeak!

Put jackstands under each axle take wheels off, the push down. If still squeaks it's in the suspension not the wheel. Check torque of trackbar bolts.

My bad. Somehow I missed the up and down thing. I was thinking of the wear indicators that sqeal all the time when your brakes get low, but clearly that aint it.

Be careful! The squeaking is coming from the hamsters in each wheel. If you lose one of them, you'll be down to 151.5 hp (hamster power) and 177.75 lb-ft of torque.

So I found my squeak, but I'm not sure what I can do, need some ideas.

The squeak is coming from the shield that sits behind the rotors to protect them from getting hit by rocks/debris. If I move it back and forth I can replicate the sound. Any ideas what I can do to stop the squeaking? I've already sprayed it down with grease, but that didn't seem to help and it doesn't seem to be loose...

I think I've got this same squeak, but only from one wheel. Drives me crazy. Does yours squeak pretty much all the time when your Jeep is moving? And does it sound especially loud in parking garages?

I've subscribed to this thread and wish you well in a solution to your problem. Will post if I come up with one of my own.

I still haven't been able to fix mine yet... I think I'm going to have to take the rotor/shield apart because it's probably either loose or rubbing somewhere. Mine is only squeaking when I drive over bumps or I push on the bumper/wheel. Where yours is squeaking all of the time, I'd say you probably have a rock or something stuck between the shield and the rotor... Maybe just spray the rotors/dust shield with a high pressure sprayer, see if that helps.

If I end up figuring out mine, I'll post it here!
