Squeaky seat
#11
Well, I just sprayed the rails front and back. And the squeak seems queiter. I think some of the squeak went away just because I moved the seat around.
But just like gravel gertie said- there is a squeak in the seat bottom. So I'll try to wiggle underneath and spray the seat bottom.
btw what's a DH?

Ok I went under the seat and found 3 springs that run front to back. They attach at 3 points on the front of the seatbottom frame in front and 3 points on the back of the frame. First I sprayed the front 3 and tested-still squeaked. Sprayed the back 3 and squeak seems gone!
I normally don't use wd40 as a lube. It's a dispersant and will eventually evaporate. I used silicone spray. Less stinky and doesn't attract as much dust/lint as oil or grease.

DRIVES ME NUTS!!!! I haven't gotten a chance to take it into the dealer yet, but my god! It is the most annoying thing in the Jeep hands down. The passenger seat is the worst. The drivers seat is about half as bad. I am not sure I want them just spraying WD-40 all "willy-nilly" inside the Jeep. I've read a post a while ago about a dealer having to replace the whole seat mount. I would prefer they go this direction when I take it in.
On top of this, my 6-disc got it's 3rd MECH and LOADING error this morning. Jeep runs great, very happy with all aspects except these two problems. Too bad these two problems are pushing me off the deep end.

Well I drove the Jeep for a few days and found the seat back is now where the squeak is coming from. I don't know if I can take off the fabric cover and lube the springs/frame.
Do y'all know if the fabric can be removed without damage?
thanks

well, I found some other write ups on installing seat heater pads in the JK. It seems like the fabric can come off with an amount of difficulty..
Actually, it seems the re-install of the fabric is tougher than removal..
Some bought hog pliers and hog clips. Others found different fasteners they thought were easier to use.
Any Ideas?
thanks

Its not the rails. When I complained about my seats squeak they lubricated the rails and it didn't help. I agree that its coming from the seats frame, springs, whatever rather than the rails.

You can access the seat bottom 3 springs and lube them from underneath, but now the seat back is still noisy. I guess I got to take the fabric off to get to the upper springs.
what a pita! or actually pitb haha

If you actually do this project, please post some pics. They could help others with the problem now or in the future. Thanks!
