Starter timing?
I notice sometimes when I start my jeep it started takes longer to get the engine turning over, especially when it is cold out. One time the starter kept making the started sound for a while.. my hand was off the key even.
Mine does the same thing, it's weird. It doesn't get "cold" here, so I don't think it is related to temperature. One morning starts within a second or two.
Next morning might take 6-8 seconds.

the computer takes care of the cranking time
all you have to do is turn the key and let go, the computer cranks as long as it needs to start the engine.
I'm so in the habit of just turning the key and letting go, when I get in another car I just tap the starter and they don't start.
as far as it taking longer sometimes than others, I dunno

There is a TSB I think about this......
"Long Crank Time Due To Possible Contact Of Camshaft Sensor To Camshaft Gear"
