Default steering wheel shake?

Doea anyones steering wheel shake lets say 50mph or over? Ive noticed a slight shake back n forth, only because i let my hands off the wheel. Its not a violent shake of course cuz i didnt notice until my hands were off the wheel. But i do notice the conditions of the road on the freeway... Sometimes it shakes sometimes it doesnt. Could it be the roads or is this just normal? By any means i know the wrangler is no smooth driving cadillac. Call it paranoid, preventitive, or just read to many forums lol

Sounds like you need to balance your tires. Actually if you haven't done so already get an alignment and rotate and balance your tires. If that doesn't fix it you could have a bad tire or if you have lifted it could be an issue with either the install or a worn component

Mine was shaking at 60mph, so I had the tires rebalanced twice, which didn't fix it. :(

I rotated the front tires to the back and it went away. Now I have to rotate the rear back to the front one at a time so I can see which tire/wheel has the issue.

I did notice the same thing as you though, sometimes it felt like it was shaking more than other times.

as mentioned, a speed related shake in the steering wheel is almost always a tire balancing issue.

I had/have the same thing at like 55-60. I re-balanced and it got better, but not perfect. I've been told that my tires (stock Muds on Rubicon) have a lot of high spots, and they won't really balance well. I picked up this Jeep about a month and a half ago, with close to 38k miles on it, so I have no idea how often (if at all) the previous owner balanced, rotated, etc.

It's annoying for sure! I will just deal with it until I get new wheels/tires in a few months I guess.

Does anybody know if by having them balanced properly and the right air pressure in, if they will ever start to wear more evenly? My tires have a decent amount of tread so it'd be a shame to just toss them.

I have about 4 to 5 months of tread left on my tirea, assuming i can wait on the rebalance and just replace them in a few months

You didn't mention what tires you are running. There are several tires that have known balancing issues

They are stock goodyear wrangler 255, if i am replacing them in several months couldnt i just wait n buy new tires n save the 60bucks to rebalance? I know it will get slightly worse n affect the tread but will it affect any suspension parts if i let it ride

If you are definitely replacing in a few months I would hold out and save the money to put into the new ones. Just keep an eye on them
