You are not going to find much of a tire selection in the stock rim size...most folks go to 17" rims...

Basically up to the same as the 17" guys... 285/70/18

That size, you MAY have rubbing on your air dam or at full flex.

Isn't a 285/70/18 at 33.7 inches tall?

I have 295/70/18 on my stock rims. I did have rubbing on the front sway bar at full turn both ways. And when fully flexed my rears touched the inside of the fender well. By the way I had 3.25" lift then. I added 1.5" spacers and haven't had the problems since. Also put 2" body lift.

Peace!

I recently mounted 285/65R18 Goodyear wrangler silent armours on a 2007 JKU Sahara. Only rubs at full steering deflection. I Was told a leveling kit of approx. 1" would resolve that issue.

I don't think a leveling kit would fix rubbing while turning the steering wheel all the way. You would need 1.5" wheel spacers for that

I have been told that wheel spacers are somewhat dangerous. Heard anything like that?

No way! As long as you follow proper maintenance and check the torque at every tire rotation it's the same as having aftermarket wheels with a different backspace. Just an extra step when rotation your tires, no worries!
