Supposedly it balances the back pressure between the two banks of the engine if you cut it out and run a straight pipe I think it will throw a code

Good to know... Trying to decide on which after market to buy... I have two kids so nothing to loud and crazy but something that sounds better and improved hp is always nice if possible
