Default Stock JK wobble

So I have the unmistakable death wobble on my STOCK Jk. Ridiculous. I took it to a dealership to have it looked at, they said it was my tires and my ball joints had a slight play in them. I am thinking about replacing the ball joints ( got quoted 660$ in a reputable shop in Charlotte, NC. Are there any other mods I can make to try and cure it before I go the expensive route. Would track bar relocation mounts or new mounts work? I'm open to anything! This wobble is getting very old fast

Everyone and this "death wobble" talk, haha.... While I am sorry to hear you have it (or think ya have it) and wish you figure out the problem as cost-effective as possible, i've never had it. I have had 2 JK's now, both lifted/modded, etc...and nothing. Big tires, big lift, etc... so i'm baffled.

Watch, I just jynxed myself now...haha...

I took my stock jk to the dealership because of bad death wobble. They said bad steering stabilizer, which is a joke. It was backordered for nearly a month. Took it to the local 4x4 suspension place. They said everything looked perfect but bad tires. Got a new aftermarket steering stabilizer from them and got some new sahara take off tires and rims and haven't had death wobble in the month since I got the tires and stabilizer.

I had an 07 jku sahara, no death wobble. Just got an 07 jku rubicon and ha r experienced death wobble. I have had it for about a month and it seems to be triggered more easily. I had a look at the components and found some play in the tie rod when twisting it. It doesnt have side to side movement. But when twisting it it feels loose and i get a metal on metal noise when rotating it back and fourth.

Any help, any ways to test for bad suspension drag link track bar or tie rod tests to see which are faulty. Really want to figure this out.

Its stock. But there is an after market steering stabilizer that was on it when i bought it.

The track bar should have some play in it, twisting it as in clockwise or counter clockwise, as if it didn't, it would break the ends. It should however NOT move side to side(only when you physically turn the wheel). Has the track bar mount been flipped when using the steering stabelizer? Because some require them to be rotated a little to accomodate the aftermarket SS and if it isn't, that could be the reason.

Again, death wobble is something that is VERY easy to point out, and a little bounce or shimmy isn't really death wobble...so, I guess I'm trying to say everyone's opinion on it varies, haha...

Could have bad shocks, do you have a lift? if so, did you extend sway bar links? Does your swaybar sit parallel to the frame? There is a lot to pin-pointing what could be the cause of your so-said death wobble.

Ive had something that felt like death wobble but I'm pretty sure it was just snow in my tires throwing out the balance but it scared me enough to try to fix the problem before it happened for real.
I got the kit from northridge today in the mail and planning on installing it next week. I've heard that this is a fix for death wobble but we will see

Im not sure if it is flipped. But the play im talking about is if you were to grip the bar and roll your wrists back and forth it moves quite a bit and makes a metal on metal sound.

What does a flipped tie rod look like?

I dont have a lift yet either. Im in the field until Thursday so i cant really look at my jeep till then to answer your q's. But all i can say is that everything looked good but the tie rod and drag link caught my attention

go to the writeup section and look over Planmans' DW writeup to diagnose and prevent. You will hear this as well if you want to help stop the issue in the future would be to replace out the trackbar bolts from the factory 14mm to 9/16x3" grade 8 bolts with stover nuts.

Default death wobble

i would check each piece of your front end for play, check your shocks, u should be able to work it down, if there is play in front end, it should be fixed even if its not the problem
