Stock Radio Antenna removal?
<in the words of the immortal Mr. Hankey>
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidey Hooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Just curious to see if anyone has attempted this mod before I undertake it myself:
Has anyone out there in JK land removed their stock FM radio antenna? I have Sirius, watch DVDs, and listen to CDs all on my Panasonic AEM deck (does anyone honestly listen to FM anymore?). I have considered removing the antenna and imagine I can pick up a little threaded plug at Lowe's and/or Home Depot to cap the antenna receptor (much like I did when I extricated my windshield bumpers). Anyone undertake this yet? Thoughts? Let me know. Holla'

I've heard of people buying another "Trail Rated" badge to cover the empty space.. I think that would be a good idea.
I haven't done it. If I did.. it would be to install a River Raider Snorkel.

Not bad
Those stubbies were decent, but since I don't use the AM/FM band AT ALL, I was thinking of a ghetto-fabulous, low-tech, under $2.00 fix...like I did with the windshield bumpers. I'll figure something out, and when I do...I will DEFINITELY post pictures.
It's all about the "Projects mentality", baby. YEAH BOI!!!!!!!!!

P.S. - It's amazing what you can find in the "random/misc. parts bin at Lowe's." Last time I was looking for those hood plugs, I found (all in the same drawer): half a ham sandwich, some skittles, and Britney Spears' dignity...amazing

As promised, here is my solution to the antenna removal. You guys that have added snorkels....AWESOME JOB!!! Very clean, work. I decided to go a different route, however. I solved my problem with one 5/16 - 18 X 1/2" Grade 5 hex cap screw from Lowe's.
Total Cost? $0.29
You GOTTA love the 'hood solution!!! And, as I am WELL aware that...
I have tacked on a top shot of my solution, a side shot, and a picture of me VERY satisfied with my work. Enjoy!
