Default Shorty Antenna Install

This is a quick and easy one...

I picked up a shorty antenna last week. I ordered it online and it only took a few days to arrive. It comes in two flavors - 8" and 14". Both are a far cry from the stock antenna in terms of length.

The antenna comes pre-fitted with an antenna adapter which threads the antenna correctly into the JK.

To install this antenna, simply unscrew the old antenna, and screw on the new one!

My overall impressions of the antenna are good. The reception is noticeably less than the stock antenna, as one would expect. If you're like me and use the radio only on occasion and are more likely to use an iPod, CD, or other source, than this works well. After using it for the last several days I've noticed the reception in concrete heavy areas lacking.

Overall, if you're looking for an antenna that is low profile and provides adequate reception, this is a great option.

The antenna is available at shortyantennasource.com and is $17.99. Shipping is free.

Sweet, thanks for the pics and info. Can't go wrong with a mod for less than $20. I am going to order one and try it out.

I cut mine in half, it about level with the top of the mirror, sharpened it to a nice sharp point with a grinder and painted it flat black. Took 15 minutes including dy time and looks badass. Iv done this with every car i have owned but i usually use caliper paint.

This is what I was going to do until I found this option. Took a lot less time and I like the result...plus if I go on road trips or have a need for better reception I still have the oem I can swap back on. Takes just seconds to swap them.

A lot of people might like this as a trail only antenna.

That's cute and I'm glad it works for you..
but why not just take the antenna off if the original one is bothersome?

because the radio still works fine with the shorty antenna, its fully functional without being in the way and isnt very expensive
