strange engine noise JKU 2012 3.6 auto
After a mud trail my JKU 2012 3.6 auto starts to have a strange noise in front of the engine.
Here it is how this sound look like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdTjgBln8nw It sounds like a siren. Bystanders turn and stare. Aside from the noise there are no ill effects, but I can stand it no longer.
The noise does not seem to be coming from the steering pump -- it doesn't change with steering load and it seems to be coming from higher up, near the top of the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6. I don't think is the alternator too.
Anyone had the same issue?
Tks!

I will suggest getting a mechanic's stethoscope and listening to the things turned by the accessory belt.
If you don't hear a bad component, remove the belt and run it briefly to see if the noise is still there.

I agree with Ronjenx, if it does it upon initial startup to I would pull the Belt and run it a couple min's
And see what happens. If no noise than you would know it's prob something belt is turning...

I went to mechanics today and we listen with na stetoscope to all moving parts in the serpentine belt and we found the noise in one idler pulley as mention here before. Just order a new one and will replace to see if will solve. Tks for now!

I have a very similar issue. Took off belt and spun alternator. Had a small squeak. Turned idle, loud bearing noise. Replaced the idler. Still have the noise. Nearly 100% positive it's the alternator.
