Stupid rear main seal leak....RRRRRRR!!
Well, I've noticed little puddles of oil on my shop floor and my parking spot at work. Since I park my old Mustangs in those spots sometimes I just wrote them off as old car leaks, which is no problem it's to be expected for 140k+ miles and the age. But much to my surprise I found out this weekend it's my 1 year old 18k mile Jeep that's leaking. ARRRRRGH!!!! I was under there changing the oil and noticed a nice drip coming from between the tranny and engine. It's not tranny fluid, it's engine oil. So.... I guess I'll give my stealership a call this week and make an appt. Man Mopar quality sucks!!!
Has anybody else here had the same issue? I'm just curious.

The seal in my rear diff started leaking at about 5k miles. That is not quite as serious as what you have. When they took it apart they said the factory installed seal was twisted. You are right about mopar quality needing some inprovement.
You need to be careful. It could be the notorious timing cover leak. They can leak straight from the factory, or crack over time because they are so thin that they are either porous right off the bat, or crack later on in their life. The rear main seal area is one of the places that it can look like it's leaking from, too. There's a nice TSB on it.

Look thgouth the TSB section on the forum and find that one. Read it good. The way it reads, it's REAL tough to tell where it's comin from. My dealer used dye two times and missed it. the only reason the went ahead and replaced the cover on the third trip was because they knew they had to do somethin.
