sunrider...AGAIN

That's the question.
What top do you have?
If you got the hard top, you give up the soft top, unless you pay for the dual tops. If you went for the dual tops and got something other than the Sunrider top, well, that's a horse of a different color. Though of a similar color to getting a factory soft top of a different variety.
Initially I thought the sunrider wasn't that great because you need to take out the back window for higher speeds. Then I realized that you can roll up the back window and ghang it from the straps that button inside the soft top. So, the sunrider is a lot faster to put up and down and you can keep all the windows on the jeep.
Bottom Line is that you should argue for it. Screwed up that you didn't get it and you paid for it.

I popped mine open the other day for the first time and didnt remove or raise rear window !!!!
Never knew you was suppose to ???? I was on the highway too LOL
The manual says remove the rear window at speeds over 45mph. I have not gotten to open mine up yet :(
As an unrelated side note, I have heard quite a few members talking about a complimentary first oil change, do all dealers do that? or is it a local thing?

You can just roll up the back window witch is so much easyer than taking it off and having to put it back in witch is a pain in the @ss but really i only use the sunrider on nice days that look like it can shower then its a plus but other than that i have the top down whenever i can so to me the sunrider is not that big of a deal. Plus in my case when im putting the top back up on my sunrider the little pin locks that hold the top down just above where the front doors end is always a battle they never lock right the first time
Well, I went to the dealer this morning for a complimentary first oil and filter change. Earlier in this forum I had mentioned that the (R) next to Sunrider on the window build sheet means the Sunrider option was removed. This was told to me by a Jeep salesman. WRONG!!! While waiting I looked at other new 2008's on the lot. One was IDENTICAL to mine, build date May 2008 as is mine, exactly the same window sticker price and "S" optional items at the exact same price. One thing was very different...it had the Sunrider top. Now at least I know what one looks like and how to tell that I don't have it. Other Jeeps on the lot had the (R) after the word Sunrider. All had "soft top" also further down on the list. Does anyone know what's going on here? BTW the 2009s come with it standard. Now for the big question. For those of you that have it and have used the fold back feature, is it that great. If so I guess I need to fight for it. I took photos of the other window stickers just in case. I'm waiting for an answer from the dealer.

it take merely seconds more to take it all the way down and out of harms way. however, on the days (spring and summer) that start off warm and sunny, but you know will turn rainy later... it is handy. Sunrider on the way to work, see the clouds and run out to flip it closed.
I just installed my Sunrider last night after having my JK since Nov. 2006. Found one for a steal on Craigslist.
I think that I'll like it a lot since you don't have to remove the windows for open air driving. Perfect for that commute home when the sun finally comes out in gray western Washington.......

I use mine all the time, more than I put the top down. I don't have a bag for the windows, so if I'm sure the weather will stay nice, which is rare to be sure, the windows go inside the house, the top goes down and the doors come off. If there's a question, the back window gets rolled up and the sunrider goes back.
Ok, I checked my build sheet and it lists the sunrider as an exterior option with a (R) next to it. I have no idea what it looks like or what to look for. Can anyone post a pic and let me know if I need to go to the dealer and jump on someone's desk?
