I misunderstood, I'm sorry. I thought you simply kept them on their original side and turned them over. All I did was confuse us both.

ok. I noticed the shim earlier today but didn't think to try leaving that in place. Thanks.

Wouldnt this be the only way of doing it without flipping just the lens cover.

Edit: other posts came in before I finished mine

Flip just the lenses so the brake lights are white. That will get attention.

That's funny. That would probably get the wrong kind of attention on the highway... Although might be good for tailgaters.

Not being a jerk. But it doesn't really look like a "mod". It looks like a mistake by an incompetent body shop. Haha.

No matter what you do the backup lights are a joke, I replaced the factory bulb with a really bright v-LEDs and the factory backup lens just doesn't let through much light...

my first real mod was to get a rigid dually d2 in diffused pattern and I mounted it on top of the drivers side brake light pod. It is wired directly into the backup power circuit.

works great! Plus now with 37's my rear window is nearly blocked, so the super bright backup light hopefully gives an extra level of awareness to folks that I'm backing up!

I am contemplating adding a second d2 to the passengers side...

Swap the shims in each housing, I'd think that should do it.

I tried leaving the shims on the correct side and switching the housings but the shim did not line up properly. I did some trimming to make it fit, only to find out the shim and the tab on the housing will not line up properly with the body.

Seems like a lot of work for something not worth messing with.
