They are automotive style U nuts. You can pick up at Lowes in the speciality fastener drawers on the nut/bolt aisle.

The mud flap/splash guards might solve the problem, but I don't really like the looks of them. What to do?
Add some ACE rock sliders

They work with the MOPAR rock rails and also double as a step for the GF!

I was able to get the entire bag full of those nuts and bolts from the dealership for free, if your local dealership is like mine, the parts department will have a bunch of them left over from swaps and installs. Wouldn't hurt to check.

I bought all the nuts and bolts for mine from the hardware store for just a few bucks. Really not expensive parts to buy.

Does anyone know if I need those clips? I just bought some rock rails (stock) but it didn't come with clips or hardware...

Yes you need them. Otherwise the bolts won't have any threads to bite into when you try to attach the rails to the body. They are cheap at any auto parts store. They usually have a small rotating rack with various parts on it for doing body work.

If you are swapping side steps for rock rails, you simply remove the step and use the existing bolts for the rails. If you are starting with nothing, you will need the clips

I had a a set of rubi rock rails on my 2007 jku. I needed the speed nuts for it. But took them off before I traded and when I installed on my 2012 it had threaded inserts and didn't need them.

Can anyone tell me what size nut fits on the green studs? I got a set of rails used without hardware. It's "E" on the install instructions.

Thanks
