wheel lug locks are a definite plus...i recently had to remove my spare with wheel lug locks on it and unfortunately did not have the damn matching lug 'key' in the jeep...it was in the toolbox i had taken out so it wouldn't get stolen the last time i had the top and doors off and had neglected to put back in, and that toolbox was 40 minutes away with no way to retrieve it...i always thought they were more of a visual deterrent anyway that anyone with a decent pair of vice grips could remove if they really wanted to....that is apparently not the case, at least on the stock rubi rim anyway...i couldn't get those damn things off to save my life with a set of vice grips...i finally ended up at an auto store about a block away and after looking through about 150 sets for an hour comparing to a photo i had taken with my cell phone i found one set that matched the set i had and was able to purchase that set and get my f@#king spare off...

I just ordered some Spyderlocks, so I'm definitely doing this - plus wheel locks! Heck I might put two wheel locks on each wheel (different from each other).

Damn theifs!! They need to be taken out back and shot. Worst part is they took your $300 spare sold it to a fence for maybe half of that and probably spent all that money on meth!! At least they stayed out of the interior. They usually do more damage than theft inside. I caught a guy scoping out mine a few months back at 2 am at my apartments. Needless to say my dog scared the crap out of him and don't expect him back any time soon. I'm surprised I haven't been broken into though, about every month I see fresh glass from a window broken out, but my windows unzip.

Knock on wood....

About the wheel locks....

Most people know that you keep the key for those in the glove box. So, first thing they'll do is smash your window, get the key out of the glove box, and take your wheels/tires anyway.

For this reason, I did NOT put the sticker with the key code for ordering a replacement in my glove box, and I also do not keep the key in the glove box. Mine stays hidden elsewhere.

Just a thought...

Some crooks hit a GM dealership locally last month and took the wheels/tires off of every Suburban on the lot. The news reported that each set of factory 20s and tires they stole was valued at $3,000 each. Wow. Can you imagine being a salesman and showing up at work the next morning only to see ALL of your trucks sitting on blocks?

This is the exact reason why if you catch someone in the act, you should be allowed to beat them within an inch of their death. Bet it would deter them from thinking about doing it again, especially if they were liable for all their own medical bills afterwards. Haven't had a problem yet, and hope not to.

Sorry for loss i just recently bought a tuffy center console and rear storage for trunk because someone at my school kept stealing crap out of my jeep when I had no doors on. I now have a wheel lock for my spare just incase. We caught the guy on camera and he ended up selling most of it so we went to court and he paid me $600 for stealing a couple ipods and my laptop (I know I was stupid to leave it in there with the doors off) and someone stole my hood and front doors while on a camping trip in the U.P. (pissed) but my uncle just gave me his old ones
