For Those Who Ordered
Sorry thats pretty funny that you think you are the only one who would notice scratches dings and dents on a car sitting on a lot. Also if you cant find a dealer with 99% of their cars not damaged something is seriously wrong down there in florida.
Maybe start a new thread, who bought a jeep off a lot with scratches dents and dings

I bought mine off a lot and it sure as hell didnt have any of that, and they washed and waxed it when I bought it.

$0 down when ordered. Forgot my checkbook when I went to pick it up and they let me take the jeep and mail the $5,000 down payment. Great dealership so far. I haven't had it in for service yet. Hope the service department works the same way.
I just need a dealer who will take a 500-1000 dollar deposit. And Set a price at the time of order.
Possible?
The deposit I could give way on, but will dealers be willing sign a purchase agreement 4-8 weeks in advanced, when I order it. I want to know I have the price in stone.

I was thinking of dong the following, but I don't want to be a d**k:
Go to a dealership down here at which I have no intention of buying. Prentend as I do. Get them to appraise my car. Get them to try and hammer down a price. See what they say. Act very serious. Then walk out.
Just so I can use their info at the dealers around me that I actually want to buy at.

Ok. I went in. They told me 2500 for my trade. That is with no negotiating, and no call back yet. I expect, if they want my business. They will call back offering more for it. but who knows.

I ordered exactly the JK I wanted. No it was not on any lot in any of the 10 or 15 states I searched. [Except for one: I found my Rubicon at a Metro Detroit dealer (I live in VA) and made an offer. They came back with darn near list price and that was the end of that.]
Back at my local dealer, I put $500 down, negotiated the price and signed a purchase agreement. I was either bringing my own financing from my credit union, or financing @ 0% through Chrysler if available. I ordered Feb 8, and picked up Apr 25 so 0% was still available and I took it. The only thing the dealer tried to sell me was a bumper-bumper warranty, which I negotiated a price on ($200 less than they were asking) and purchased. I believe you have much more power if you're not totally reliant on their financing.
BTW, I don't think it's necessary to be in stealth mode when comparing dealers. It would probably be to your advantage if they know you're shopping around.
Invoice price is your friend. It won't be the exact price the dealer pays for the JK, but it's a very good starting point. Go to Edmunds.com and build the vehicle of your choice (spend some time first on Jeep.com to understand all the options). Edmunds will produce an invoice price for you, and will also show any current incentives, like dealer cash-back, 0% financing, $ rebate, etc. Even if they sell to you at invoice, they will make several hundred dollars on the deal.

Dealer cost is invoice minus (factory to dealer hold back=3% of MSRP) and minus factory to dealer incentive (400$)
thus I'm not paying more than 28300. For my 4 door sahara with my gig, hardtop, stick, 3.73, side impact.
If I have to wait for months for someone to come down to that price, then wait I will. The way I see it, in the current market, they need me to buy a car more than I need to buy one from them. One of the dealers around here will eventually step up.
I KNOW SEVERAL KITTENS HAVE DIED BECAUSE I CALLED IT A CAR, BUT I'M WRITING QUICK!
