Thoughts on buying a used 2007 4DR JK?
Hello everyone,
This is my first post and looking to buy my first JK very soon. I have found some good deals on some 2007 4DR JK's here in Canada with anywhere from 60000-90000kms on them.
This is what is in my price range at the moment. I have looked at 3 so far and wondering if anyone out there can give me some thoughts on the 2007 JK or anything to look out for when looking at them? I will have the JK checked to make sure all recalls have been completed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I bought a 2007 JK Unlimited with 30,000 miles. Things to look out for:
Pink fluid leaking from water pump area
Ask about oil usage (if you do get it, switch to a heavier synthetic oil)
Listen for exhaust manifold leaks
These are things I had issues with but so far (after 10,000 miles) it has been great.
Of course check all the regular stuff too:
Make sure 4wd works correctly
Check oil for correct amount and make sure it's clean
Check all fluids if you know how.
Look for signs of wear in suspension components and body damage.
Hope you find a good one!

+1 on checking everything. Besides checking the 4WD also check electrical and, if possible, water resistance (rain does not leak, etc). The latter seems to be a problem in several JKs. I bought mine in a rainy day (not difficult in Seattle) to check that.
Another thing to consider is the trim model and accessories. I got a 2007 4dr Sahara that already came with hard top and hooks. You save a ton in accessories. :-)

I bought a 2007 with 60k miles. I had it checked out, and did the tests above. No issues since. The one thing I would also recommend is to fill it with gas. If it spews after the pump clicks off either decided if you can live with it, or pass on it. A small window (mfg march 07 to march 08) are covered under a lifetime warranty.
Also, get the VIN and request a build sheet from the dealer. I found an X with factory 4.10 gears, which for me, is fine running 35's. And if you're really lucky, you'll find one with a front 44 in it.

I am still driving my 2007 JKU. I bought it used and it's been fine. If I knew then what I know now, the only difference I would make would be to look for a 2007 that has the 4.10 gearing. 2007 JKU's came with 4.10s with the tow package.
