How many miles are on your jeep? It is a perfect time to put in a new clutch while you are in there...

53,000 miles. The clutch seems fine just like the day I bought it but everyone keeps saying that why do I need a new one?

It is just a good time because you are already in there. I really don't know the averageblife span of the clutches in the jk. You might look it up

Honestly if it has only made noise once I wouldn't be too concerned. Just keep an eye on it

It has been doing it for about three or four days now. At running temp there is a knock comming from the bell housing while in neutral. If u touch the cluch at all the knock goes away

Every time you work on a clutch replace every part. It is a rule set in stone that is as old as time.

I did not find a JK writeup on this forum, so far. Here is a thread where someone lists what is involved. There is a link in the thread to the process (with pics) on a TJ. It would be somewhat similar.

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...ch+replacement

The reason people suggest replacing the clutch while your in there is because, as you will see, the process is labor intensive to get to it. And at 53000 it just seems like a good idea.

Agreed. No sense in doing things twice. Maybe other manual owners will chime in if they have replaced theirs

Another question can I wheel with the throwout bearing doing this or would that be a bad idea?
