Ticking Jeep normal per Chrysler
I'm pissed off.. I've been without my Jeep for five days. Per STAR the dealership kept my Jeep and replaced all, ALL, lifters because the ticking was not normal. One of the service guys even took it home last night----- to put miles on it. Well I got a call earlier today from the dealership and they told me there was still an issue with the Jeep because it was still making the noise.
I was told they were awaiting further instruction from STAR and how to go about fixing it.... Well I just got a call from the service department and they say now that STAR had them check a sensor. After the sensor was found to be ok STAR told them the Jeep is ok and the ticking sound is normal. The dealership said they compared it to a Jeep that had 3000 miles on it and they sound the same and that I can come pick it up.....
I feel like I just got the run around big time.. They tore it down, replaced parts, drove it, and it's the same so it's a non issue now per STAR. Ticking is good but it needed repairs so it still ticks..............

Totally unacceptable!!....If I run into this problem with my new Jeep, I will trade it in for a Honda , and have nothing to do with Chrysler again......
..... UNBELIEVABLE!!

Its not normal. I would take it to another dealer. If they think its normal, ask them to ride with you in a different Jeep on their lot so you can hear it for yourself. It won't happen
Well I picked it up... It still ticks, maybe even a touch louder but it's been five days since I've heard it. The service manager was good about it and said he is going to get ahold of the regional Chrysler rep and set a date for a Chrysler technician to look at it.
Seemed pretty clear that he didn't seem satisfied with it either. Interesting note on my service receipt says, "attempt to order head at customer request, parts are on restriction". Also , "head could not be condemned at this time request denied".. Also, "phazer quiet, valve train noise located drivers bank". Maybe a chrysler tech has to approve the replacement?
As I've said before the service department seems genuine and I believe they are aware that ticking is an issue but have to follow STARs directions. Anyways I'll keep everyone posted.
