Default Tips for getting the top up quicker??

Hello

I've had 5 Jeep's and two of them were/are dual tops.

i love the soft top but if I could put the soft top up quicker it would make my wife happier and more likely to let me put the top down more often...

jealous of you guys in states where it rains less often, but in New England you never know for sure.

i bought one of the spyder mesh tops, so that will make my wife happier as far as baking in the sun too much

Practice, practice, practice...

Seriously, though, when you get good at it, it's only 4-5 minutes to put it up. I have settled into a sequence that works really well for me:

1. Open the tailgate
2. Raise roof and lock it into the latches above the B-pillar. Flip the sunrider roof forward, but do not bring it all the way down tight to the windshield yet. This will leave some slack in the fabric to make it easier to yank around.
3. Put the rear window on. When you're first attaching the rear window to the zipper, it's easier if the rear left flap (C-pillar flap?) isn't attached to the belt rail. Once you start the zipper, go ahead and connect the C-pillar flap to the belt rail.
4 Zip the rear window in fully, install the bar, connect the belt rail tabs, and see to the velcro on the inside of the C-pillar flaps.
5. Now bring down the front and latch it to the windshield.
6. Open one of the rear doors and start the zipper on one of the side windows before you secure it to the door surrounds or the belt rail and zip it all the way to the back (but not down the back yet)
7. Once the zipper is started, tuck the window to the door surround and tuck the top edge under the roof velcro flap.
8. Now do the belt rail for the side window.
9. Now zip the rest of the way down the back and pull the rear velcro flap smooth.
10. Repeat for the other side.

Hope it helps.

edit - just saw that you have a 2-dr. I have a JKU, so I'm not sure how much the above helps you out.

Yeah, $11k for an automatic soft top...

I just spent a little more than that and got two great Dynatrac pro rock d44 and d60 axles, with lockers.

im just looking for some tips I might be missing on soft top speed to raise, ie. it just started pouring out on a nice summer day when rain wasn't predicted.

The worst part is the rear window till you get it started, the Velcro helps get the sides in... As stated above practice is the best thing to add speed. Maybe if ya want there is a emergency soft too that I think bestop makes that goes on quick and is able to be driven with it on and I think its a little less than 11k...

hey, you said quicker. That's about the only option other than just getting more proficient at the process. You never mentioned price was an issue.

True. If it was like under a grand I might do it to make my wife happy, but I imagine it would take up some space, especially in the back of a two door, and between my off road tools/emergency recovery gear and my yeti cooler, I don't have much space to loose.
