Default tire sizes compatible with stock JK?

Is there a list anywhere of tire sizes that will work on a stock JK?

the 255/75r17 size is apparently very hard to come by in my town (not a single place has them in stock), and I'm looking for other options for tire sizes that will fit (same size or larger)

I've searched and not been successful at finding any good info. Was hoping someone on here had come across such a list, or might know of a couple other sizes that would work without spacers or a lift.

Thanks.

Google search 'metric tire calculator or metric tire conversion', and plug in the number. That will give the standard equivalent of any metric tire size.

Or-

Go to any tire mfgs or online retailers website, choose a tire, and look at the list. They will have the standard height and width in the specs right next to every metric size.

For example: on TireRack.com, choosing a metric tire size and clicking the Specs button brings a list including "Diameter", "Tread Width", Max Load, Max Inflation, Tread Depth, Tire weight, Rim with range, Section width, etc ... All the info you could want.

Short explanation - go to tirerack.com and plug in your year/make/model, and they will list "plus sizes" that will work reliably on your Jeep. I'm surprised your tire shop couldn't tell you. Or, if you haven't yet, drop by your local shop and chat with them. They can even ship the tires to you, or your shop.

The caveat of upgrading tire size is that your speedometer will be off (slow) by a few mph. To correct this, you will need to flash the computer. AEV and other manufacturers make widgets that you can plug into your Jeep's OBDII port to update the tire size, among other features. Very easy. *Note: most Jeep dealers cannot/will not flash computers for tire sizes beyond the largest available stock size (Rubicon).

Tire Rack is a great site, even if you don't buy from there. Lots of good info on a wide variety of tires that will fit. Personally I like to stick with BFG and Goodyear, but there are lots of other good choices for highway, offroad, or combo (All-Terrain) use.

I am driving on 265/70 R17 and stock suspension. Wider/larger tires will need modifications to your suspension. You could get them from TireRack delivered to your home in couple of days, no need to look around, most likely you will not find cheaper price on same tires.

Thanks for all the info!

Does anyone have a picture of a jk with the 265/70/r17s on it? I went to discount tire today and they also said I could get that size, but it is 1/2 inch shorter than the stock tires, and a bit wider. I'm curious how those tires would look, since they would save me at least a couple hundred bucks than the stock size.

For what it's worth, the 10th Anni Rubi's come with 265/70r17's. Good looking and decently sized tire IMO.

I just ordered 285/70/17 Duratracs with American Outlaw wheels. Before I did that, I've done a lot of research and from what I got is: The biggest tire you can put on stock JK with stock wheels is 33" (285) tire, but you will have to install spacers to be able to do a full turn.
