Tow package -Gear ratio upgrade
Hey Everyone,
Jeep at the dealer getting the tow package installed. I asked if they upgraded the gear ratio from 3.21 to 3.73 and they said no
Now, I'm thinking that I paid for the tow package that includes the ratio upgrade, shouldn't they install this?

Just got off the phone with my sales guy.
Basically, this option is installed at the factory and not at the dealer, so it looks like I'm going to be stuck with the 3.21 axle ratio for now.
Dealer installed tow kit won't include the upgrade, they forgot to mention this when I asked for the package.
I can't complain too much, they are installing everything for free (tow package, uConnect, etc...).

I would be pissed ordering the tow package and you get a jeep with an added on hitch and the 3:21 ratio. 3:21 will not cut it for towing or that matter if you want to upgrade to larger tires and tow! I would put up a big stink over this if tow package was on your Sales invoice....false advertising.

The question should be. Did you order the Jeep from the factory with the "Trailer Tow Package", in which case the gear ratio would have been 3.73 from the factory instead of the standard 3.21, or did you buy the Jeep off a dealers lot, then request to add the tow kit, in which case the gear ratio could have been 3.21, and most likely was, and the dealer installed the Mopor reciever with the wiring harness.
No dealer is going to change the gearing in their service bay.

Gears are a critical part of the tow package, and when ordered from the factory it is easy for them to switch to the higher (numerically) gearing (the gears only option from the factory is also only like $50). To swap gears after the fact though is very expensive, so it's no surprise they are adding some towing accessories, but not the full "tow package". What are they charging you for this?
