towing a 3500 lb trailer
going camping up in northern ca. going to be towing a 3500 lb trailer ( that is what vehicle is rated for) 2008 rubicon auto with 315 70 17s and almost 140 k on the do. Just had a new radiator and a new tranny at 90k uses some oil like all the others. and I need a new catalytic converter but it runs fine. got new plugs at 120 dealer has always serviced it. still....
Should I be worried ? anybody else tow with high of miles and that far san diego to mendicino?

I wouldn't worry too much. I tow a 3,000 trailer with my 92,000 mile 08 Unlimited. It does struggle a little on the hills but will cruise about 65 with no problems. I would do a fresh oil change with at least a good 5w-30 oil. Here is my setup. Oh, and expect your mileage to take a big hit. Towing this I get 12-14 mpg.

Trailer brakes would be the only other suggestion for safety.

Guess I should have mentioned a couple things on my first post. When purchased, my Jeep had the factory towing package. That included the flat-4 trailer wiring connector. I bought and installed the Mopar wiring kit for the round-7 connector and wiring for trailer brakes. I didn't install a brake controller at that time as my trailer only weighed 1,000 pounds.
I recently got the small travel trailer and knew I would need the brake controller. I bought the Tekonsha 90160 Primus IQ Electronic Brake Control. It was small enough to fit on the dash without being too intrusive. It also has connectors so you can remove it when not in use.
Good luck.
