Default TPMS questions?

Ok so here is the back story:

Last Sunday I put on the Rubicon wheels and tires I found on Craigslist. These things are like brand new, all of the little rubber nubs from the molding are still attached. So all week I drive around town, to and from work, out to eat, cruise around just for fun with the freedom panels off, like a 125 miles or better.
No TPMS light or ding, no nothing all week. This morning I head out to the NorthShore for some hiking and swimming, I cross the Causeway and pull over at a drive thru and BAM i notice the TPMS warning light is on. I get out and check the tire pressure and all is good on the 4 tires on the road, the spare is a little low. I put air in the spare and drive off and the TPMS light is still on.

My questions are:
Will the TPMS tell me if the spare is low?
Do you think the new wheels don't have the sensors in them?
But if this is the case why did it take a week and a hundred plus miles to tell me there was a problem?
What else could the problem be?

Thanks
Kevin

ps here are some pics from today.

Had a mini Crush Convoy on the way up there!

your spare wont effect the dummy,,and after i changed my wheels, the sensor instantly went on,,so im thinking theres a problem with the sensor or it just needs to be reset..look into the superchips.

Mine did the same thing, not quite 125 miles but probably in the range of 3 days and 75 miles. I know for a fact that the wheels did not have sensors as they were from my old truck. I don't worry about the ding on start-up and have lived with the light for about 6000 miles. Can't explain it, but it did take some driving for the computer to recognize that there were no sensors. Been waiting on the new programmers to come out, don't want to buy the Procal.

I read on a Chrysler website about the sensors that the spare does send out a signal, but much less frequently than the rotating tires.

I swapped out my 17 sport wheels/tires with rubi wheels/tires like you did about 3000 miles ago. The dash light never came on. My 2012 sport wheels were then put on a coworkers 2008 Sahara and her light has not come on.

Is there any way to find out if the sensors are in there, other than unmounting the tires from the rims?
Thanks

Most garages will have the ping tool to test a mounted sensor without dismounting the tire.

The photos posted look like black rubber stems. Post a photo of the valve stem, with the cover off, maybe we can tell if they are TPMS stems. The brass threads on the black stems have a longer shoulder than non TPMS stems.

Unless they are 2007 rims, they should have TPMS.

Is the TPMS dash light solid (low pressure) or flashing (bad sensor)?

Also, check the tire date code to see how old those "new" tires are.

I will post pics of the valve stems in the morning.
The warning light flashes at first then is solid once get moving.
Date codes are between 4411 and 4711. So the end of 2011

Thanks
Kevin

My valve stems were aluminum on the TMPS . I took mine out and put rubber ones in . I don't have TMPS any more but don't miss it . Aluminum stems fell apart after about 60 Thousand kilometers . And wouldn't take even a small hit on the trail without snapping so bye bye TMPS . That's how mine acts with none flashing and then on solid.
