Default Traction Control Light On

So today driving on the highway my traction control light came on and stayed on. No stutter or anything, just the light on. I also noticed that my cruise control won't turn on which I'm sure is related.

Anyone have any experience as to where to start looking?

There is probably a DTC that an advanced scanner can read (see link in sig below), but if I had to guess on something to try it would be to remove, clean, re-install both rear wheel speed sensors.

The cruise control issue is definitely related. If that light is on, cruise is killed completely. A scanner that can read down into the ABS module will pinpoint which sensor is the issue. A basic OBDII reader won't be enough to get that code though. If you have a programmer, most of them will read the diagnostics.

Okay after more research I saw that if your steering wheel is off center it can cause this. Mine was indeed off by a fair amount. I fixed that this morning and the light is still on after a quick test drive.

Does it reset itself after an amount of time or after so many key cycles or do I have to have it reset?

It usually takes a few miles to reset itself.

Thanks for the help. Light went out after a few short drives!
