No clunking in N. just when its in gear. I no nothing about trannys. Had to take it to dealer. Just hoping they are still in the holiday spirit and spit on it b4 they jam it in me. $109 just for a diagnostic!!!! (Punches old lady that answers phones). Its still warrantied so fingers crossed.

If it's still under warranty, why the diognostic cost. That's part of the labor cost for troubleshooting to find the problem. At least it was for the wifes warranty work. ie the entire cost was covered under warranty.

They charge you the $100 to figure it out and if it's covered under warranty you don't pay it. If they don't find the problem or deem it's not covered, then you pay it. We had drive shaft flange bolts snapping and I just needed to know if they'd warranty it with the lift recently installed. The tried to charge me $100 for them to "inspect" it and tell me it's not covered. I told them I wasn't paying for something that took them 2min to look at and is something they could've just told me in person about. I got angry and they just gave me the keys back and I didn't pay. Dealers suck...never use them unless you really know you'll be covered.

They should waive the diagnostic if the repair is covered under warranty. No worries there.

I've always found that a laid-back approach is best with dealership folks until the exact problem and cost is known.

Checked your transmission fluid?

Have someone look underneath from the side while you shift into gear. Does the transmission move?

U-joints in your axles coming apart or grease leaking from the boots?
Clunk coming from rear or closer to the engine?

Does it act the same in 4WD vs. 2WD?

Dealer said it was the rear driveshaft. Its a teraflex with maybe 5k on it. It was broken "internally".

Any pics? Is it the standard CV with a DC joint at the transimision end or the flange style like stock? There's not much to a driveshaft and it wouldn't have felt like your tranny was going to drop but rather a violent shaking the whole vehicle lol Did you install it or was it on there when you bought it..if you bought it from the dealer that is. Since you said it was speed related and when driven, they are probably right, but interested in seeing if it's just a u-joint that failed or something else. U-joints are a quick, cheap fix so not a big deal, but if there was a major problem with the driveshaft and they don't warranty it, then you need to contact Tereflex and see if they will (unless you took it offroad and smashed it up real good).
