NP241 J is a standard JK case. NP241 J OR is a Rubicon case.
What he said. If you bought it from a salvage yard, those guys don't know the difference. They both fit in the same hole so their computer views them as the same part. On the round aluminum tag attached to the t-case it should be stamped 4:1. If it's not, you didn't get a Rubi case.

Not to hijack this thread, but is/was the 242 case ever used in the JK? I have the 242 in my WJ and really love it.

Too funny... I was reading the same JP article in my "office" this morning...then decided to crawl under my '07 Rubicon in the garage and was concerned as well as I saw NV241J on the ID tag of the t-case instead of NV241OR. Then I spotted the Ratio and it's labeled 4-1. I think the article is just slightly off indicating that the stamp on the ID tag would read NV241OR as it reads NV241J instead. I was getting paranoid that over the years some mechanic swapped out my Rubi T-Case !!!

My t-case matches the on pictured in the right anyway which according to the article is the OR (or Rock-Track) version for the Rubicon.

I believe it's the one pictured on the left above. NV241. 2.72:1 low range ratio.
