Default Transmission Additives in 42RLE

Has anybody used transmission additives with any luck? Had a shudder, got fluid and filter changed then flushed a few weeks later. shudder is still there and now its having a rough shift when coming to a stop.

I have heard good things about TRANS X fixing small troubles in a lot of transmissions. is this something you can add and leave in or does it need to be changed out after a certain amount of miles or time?

Can it be mixed with the ATF+4?

Anybody have a 42RLE for sale?

What year is your JK? Not under warranty?

I am not aware of any additives which would be of benefit to the 42RLE.

I'm guessing you are out of warranty. If you are under warranty, you don't want to put anything other than ATF4 into that transmission.

You'll probably get better feedback if you provide more info like what year, how many miles, and what are you doing when it shudders? Do you tow or crawl slow with it?

what did the fluid look/smell like when you changed it? burnt at all? When you had it flushed, was it a high pressure flush?

EDIT: RonjenX is faster on the keyboard then me!!!

I originaly changed the fluid because the transmission had water in it.

That, I believe, is where all the problems stem.

When I changed it it was a pink milkshake, not burnt.

I had what I think was (is) a torque converter shudder.

Took it to the dealer and had it flushed with BG machine.

Shudder is still there and now when I come to a stop there is a rough shift into first or neutral or whatever autos go into when you stop.

Someone in my local club said to add some TRANS X, but I don't know if that will make things worse?

hmmm, pink milkshake. like cloudy? does your coolant look contaminated like maybe they are mixing? How do you suppose water got into the tranny? did you cross deep water?

No place for them to mix.

He went through deep water.

If he got his JK on or after July 26, 2007, he will still be covered.

Thegreatself, when did you take delivery?

Yup, they knew how to write the warranty, didn't they?
